Yasubee: Omoide Yokocho’s Only Large Privately-Owned Restaurant, Since 1940
Yasubee has operated in Omoide Yokocho (also known as Shinjuku Nishiguchi Memory Lane) since 1940 and is described by the alley's own official association as its only large, privately-owned restaurant, seating up to 64 guests. Alongside yakitori, it serves motsunikomi (offal stew) and seafood brought in daily from Toyosu Wholesale Fish Market, plus sake from across Japan.
Unlike most of its cash-only neighbors in the alley, Yasubee accepts credit cards, debit cards, and UnionPay, which makes it a practical option for visitors who don't want to rely on cash.
