These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) set forth the conditions of use for “JAPAN EAT GUIDE” (the “Site”). By using the Site, you are deemed to have agreed to these Terms.
Article 1 (Scope of Application)
These Terms apply to the use of all content and services provided by the Site.
Article 2 (Prohibited Conduct)
Users shall not engage in any of the following acts when using the Site:
- Acts that violate applicable laws or public order and morals
- Reproducing, republishing, or modifying the Site’s content without authorization
- Placing an excessive load on the Site’s servers or network
- Interfering with the operation of the Site
- Causing disadvantage or damage to other users or third parties
Article 3 (Copyright of Content)
The copyright of the text, images, and other materials published on the Site belongs to the Site’s operator or the rightful rights holders. Unauthorized reproduction or republication is prohibited.
Article 4 (User-Submitted Content)
The Site provides a feature that allows users to submit reviews (including text and photographs; the “Submitted Content”) on restaurant pages and elsewhere. The following provisions apply to Submitted Content.
- (Discretion to Moderate) The Site’s operator may, at its own discretion, approve or reject Submitted Content prior to publication, and remove or hide it after publication. The fact that Submitted Content has been approved and published does not mean that the Site guarantees the truthfulness or accuracy of its contents.
- (Submitted Content Reflects the Submitter’s Individual Opinion) Published Submitted Content is based on the individual opinions and experiences of the submitter and does not represent the views of the Site’s operator (editorial team). In particular, with respect to statements by submitters concerning dietary restrictions such as halal, vegan, vegetarian, or allergy accommodations, the Site does not guarantee the accuracy of such statements; users should make their own final confirmation (please also refer to the Disclaimer page).
- (License Grant) The submitter grants the Site’s operator a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to use the Submitted Content (including text and photographs) for posting, reproducing, and displaying it on the Site (including, for the Site’s future promotional purposes, secondary use on social media and similar platforms). The submitter represents and warrants that the submitter holds the necessary rights in the Submitted Content and that, where any third party appears in the Submitted Content, the submitter has obtained the necessary consent from such third party.
- (Prohibition of False or Incentivized Reviews) Users must not submit a review for a restaurant they have not actually visited or used, must not disguise or conceal any compensation relationship (such as receiving money or complimentary food) in exchange for posting a review, and must not otherwise submit false content. This prohibition reflects the intent of the stealth marketing regulation under Japan’s Act against Unjustifiable Premiums and Misleading Representations (景品表示法), which prohibits representations that ordinary consumers cannot recognize as advertising (in effect since October 2023). Content that violates this provision is subject to non-approval or removal, and the Site’s operator may restrict the offending user’s ability to post further submissions.

Article 6 (External Links)
The Site may contain links to other websites. The Site assumes no responsibility for the content of any linked external sites.
Article 7 (Changes to the Terms)
The Site may revise these Terms at any time without prior notice to users, if deemed necessary. Any revised Terms will take effect upon being posted on this page.
Article 8 (Governing Law and Jurisdiction)
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Japan. Any disputes arising in connection with the Site shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the court having jurisdiction over the location of the Site’s operator.
