Saryo Tsujiri, Daimaru Shinsaibashi: Kyoto’s Famous Matcha Tea House Opens in Osaka
Saryo Tsujiri is the cafe arm of Gion Tsujiri, the Uji tea merchant whose Kyoto flagship (also listed on this site) has served matcha sweets near Yasaka Shrine for decades. This Daimaru Shinsaibashi branch, opened in December 2024, is the brand's first location in Osaka and its fourth nationwide, following Kyoto's Gion honten, a Kyoto Isetan branch, and one in Tokyo's Daimaru Tokyo. The cafe occupies the 8th floor of Daimaru Shinsaibashi, directly above Shinsaibashi Station, with 62 seats and a signature "cha-cha-cha set" that lets guests compare matcha, hojicha and genmaicha side by side.
