Issen Yoshoku Gion Honten: Okonomiyaki’s Predecessor, Served Late in Gion
Per its official site, issen yoshoku was a one-sen griddle snack sold to children in the Taisho and early Showa eras, a forerunner of okonomiyaki. This Gion shop revived it with Kujo green onion, egg and wagyu, and serves only this dish, at 950 yen.
Open every day: 11:00 AM-1:00 AM on weekdays, to 3:00 AM on Saturdays, 10:30 AM-10:00 PM on Sundays and holidays. Takeout available.
